Basketball Recap: Princeton Eagles vs. Loyalton Grizzlies

After a string of four wins, the Princeton Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Loyalton, falling 55-21. Princeton has not had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Wills, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Wills is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Guadalupe Espinoza, who scored three points along with three steals.

Loyalton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophie Holland, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Holland is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. Catherine Petterson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Princeton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Loyalton, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Princeton's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Loyalton, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
