Basketball Recap: New Brighton Takes a Loss

New Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Quaker Valley Quakers, falling 65-5. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-2.

It was another big night for Oumou Thiero, who posted 24 points for Quaker Valley. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Thiero has scored at least a third of Quaker Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Mia Floro, who earned seven points.

New Brighton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Quaker Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

New Brighton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Quaker Valley, they and Mohawk Area will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played.
