Basketball Game Preview: Mount Union Trojans vs. Fannett Metal

The Mount Union Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge Fannett Metal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mount Union is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Tussey Mountain on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mount Union lost 50-30 to Tussey Mountain. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maddie Dimoff put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Skopic, who had four points and four steals.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Fannett Metal sidestepped Claysburg-Kimmel for a 35-33 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fannett Metal.

Mount Union's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fannett Metal, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Mount Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Fannett Metal in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 56-53. Will Mount Union repeat their success, or does Fannett Metal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
