Football Recap: Pershing County Wins Going Away Against Battle Mountain

Pershing County won the last time they faced Battle Mountain and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 36-13 margin over the Longhorns. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ayden Montes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 94 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 74 yards and one TD. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles, and defending one pass. Trenton Rhodes was another key player, rushing for 86 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pershing County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Pershing County's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Battle Mountain, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
