Football Recap: Matawan Regional Piles Up the Points Against Long Branch + How To Watch

Matawan Regional never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over the Long Branch Green Wave. That looming 42-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.

The victory (which was Matawan Regional's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Long Branch, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Matawan Regional will challenge Middletown North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Long Branch, they will face off against Central Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Green Wave's offense will have their work cut out for them.
