Basketball Recap: Coventry Christian Comes Up Short

Coventry Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Linville Hill Warriors 69-6. While losing is never fun, Coventry Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while Linville Hill is ranked 111th).

Kayla Tinkey was Coventry Christian's leading scorer, having posted four points.

It was another big night for Desiree Smucker, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals for Linville Hill. Smucker is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Good, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points.

Coventry Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18-1. As for Linville Hill, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coventry Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-23 loss against Ephrata Mennonite on the 4th. As for Linville Hill, they have also already played their next match, a 45-37 victory against Shalom Christian Academy on the 4th.
