Basketball Recap: Aliso Niguel Comes Up Short

Aliso Niguel and La Canada squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Aliso Niguel had to settle for second. They lost 49-29 to the La Canada Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Spartans are ranked 198th).

La Canada was led to victory by Jennifer Musso and Malia Harney. Musso went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points and five boards, while Harney went 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points. Musso's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Aliso Niguel has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season. As for La Canada, they pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Aliso Niguel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Canada, they will challenge Rosary Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Canada is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
