Soccer Game Preview: Whittier vs. El Rancho

Whittier is 2-8 against El Rancho since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Whittier Cardinals will host the El Rancho Dons at 5:00 p.m.

Whittier is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against California, falling 4-0. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, El Rancho made sure to put some goals up on the board against Santa Fe on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Chiefs as they made off with a 5-1 win. Considering the Dons have won four games by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

El Rancho is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 9-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those eight contests. As for Whittier, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-2.

Whittier might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from El Rancho in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Whittier avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
