Basketball Game Preview: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. North Star Cougars

The Meyersdale Red Raiders just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the North Star Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meyersdale will be strutting in after a win while North Star will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Meyersdale was able to grind out a solid victory over Shade, taking the game 43-35.

Meanwhile, North Star was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against Glendale, falling 48-20. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

Meyersdale's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for North Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Meyersdale didn't have too much breathing room in their match against North Star in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was North Star's Abby Barnick, who posted 20 points and four steals. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Meyersdale to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
