Softball Recap: Grand Junction Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Grand Junction Central dropped down to 8-11 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grand Junction Tigers by a score of 10-8. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Emma Grabau was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Raygan Ball, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

As for Grand Junction, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Grand Junction's side, Kloe Donahue made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Donahue has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ashley Gonzalez was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jacquelyn Boyd was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Grand Junction Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
