Softball Recap: Vinita Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Vinita's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Nowata Ironmen get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

CC Carter was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Vinita got a big performance out of Rylee Brown, who earned one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Todd, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Vinita is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Nowata, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Looking ahead, Vinita will face off against Skiatook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nowata, they will square off against Pawhuska at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
