Basketball Recap: Blackhawk Picks Up Ninth Straight Win on the Road

It's playoff time, and Blackhawk had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Clearfield Bison with a sharp 58-32 win on Wednesday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 21 points or more this season.

Blackhawk got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubree Hupp out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 24 rebounds. The matchup was Hupp's 33rd in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Sheesley, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 22 points.

Clearfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sonny Diehl, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 14 points in addition to six steals and five boards, and Eve Helsel, who posted 11 points and four steals. That was a full 43.8% of Clearfield's points, marking the third time in a row Diehl has had more than a third of the team's points. Mia Helsel was another key player, putting up five points.

Blackhawk's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3. As for Clearfield, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Blackhawk will square off against North Catholic on Saturday. North Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Blackhawk surely won't give up without a fight. Clearfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
