Basketball Recap: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Park Tudor Panthers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sheridan Blackhawks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 55-40. Given Sheridan's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Panthers are ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sheridan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Garner, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Garner hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Nova Cross was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Sheridan, bringing their record for this year to 18-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Park Tudor, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Sheridan won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Covenant Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. Park Tudor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
