Preview: Eden Christian Academy vs. Laurel Spartan
Eden Christian Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Laurel Spartan at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Eden Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Monday.
After a string of three wins, Eden Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winchester Thurston.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ella D'Ippolito, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hope Haring, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Eden Christian Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Laurel's 25-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 41-29 to Sharpsville last Thursday. Laurel has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eden Christian Academy's record now sits at 4-4. As for Laurel, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Eden Christian Academy suffered a grim 56-30 defeat to Laurel in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Eden Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
