Basketball Recap: Village Christian Skates Past Northview with Ease

Village Christian posted their biggest victory since January 30th on Saturday. They blew past the Northview Vikings, posting a 57-27 win. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Vikings are ranked 744th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Village Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Mulligan, who went 7 of 10 en route to 20 points. Mulligan is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddy Boquiren, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Village Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

The victory got Village Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Northview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Village Christian will take on Verdugo Hills in a tournament on Thursday. Village Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Northview, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Schurr at 2:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
