Basketball Recap: Lancaster County Christian Comes Up Short

Lancaster County Christian lost against Linville Hill back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lancaster County Christian Lions took a 39-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Linville Hill Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Warriors are ranked 108th).

Despite the loss, Lancaster County Christian still got an impressive performance from Alicia Fisher, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Lancaster County Christian's points, marking the ninth time in a row Fisher has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Lancaster County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Linville Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Courtney Good led the charge by going 5-for-10 en route to 11 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Desiree Smucker, who earned nine points and six boards.

Lancaster County Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season. As for Linville Hill, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.

Lancaster County Christian has already played their next game, a 57-23 victory against Harrisburg Christian on the 17th. As for Linville Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-27 win against Mount Calvary Christian on the 14th.
