Baseball Recap: Bangor Comes Up Short

Bangor extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 11-15-1. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Pigeon Chiefs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Wednesday.

Wyatt Schneider made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Terrance Payne, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for White Pigeon, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On White Pigeon's side, Brody Block was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). White Pigeon is 10-2 when Block allows two or fewer earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Block was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Block wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Jackson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Dace Kochel JR. was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bangor has already played their next contest (against Our Lady of the Lake Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for White Pigeon, they will square off against Hackett Catholic Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
