Basketball Recap: Lower Lake Comes Up Short

Lower Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 47-30 fall against the Ferndale Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 694th, while the Wildcats are ranked 248th).

Ferndale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tinnley Pidgeon, who posted 16 points. Michaela Ellsmore was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Lower Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Ferndale, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Lake will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ygnacio Valley at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Ferndale also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Fortuna at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
