Baseball Recap: Chapel Hill Takes a Loss

Chapel Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 11-8 to the Westlake Lions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-2 loss on Tuesday.

Jaylon Allen and Phillip Ackerman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Allen scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Ackerman went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Allen is becoming a predictor of Chapel Hill's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Whitehead, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Chapel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Westlake, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-11.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Chapel Hill Panthers challenge Douglas County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chapel Hill is facing Douglas County at the right time seeing as Douglas County is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Westlake, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Paideia at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th.
