Basketball Recap: Jesa Montgomery's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wisner-Pilger over North Bend Central

If Wisner-Pilger was feeling good fresh off their 64-21 takedown of Wakefield on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gators took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Bend Central Tigers on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 51-41 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Wisner-Pilger's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesa Montgomery, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emerson Bellar, who had 12 points and five steals.

Wisner-Pilger's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for North Bend Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wisner-Pilger will be home for the holidays to greet Oakland-Craig at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 53.8 points per game this season. North Bend Central will take on Pender in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Pendragons have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
