Baseball Recap: Hawkinsville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hawkinsville can now relate to. They lost 17-11 to the Screven County Gamecocks on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Gamecocks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-4 loss on Wednesday.

Tanner Meeks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hawkinsville: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Ben Broadnax was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Hawkinsville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Screven County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-11.

As of now, neither Hawkinsville nor the Gamecocks have any future games scheduled.
