Recap: Otay Ranch Mustangs vs. Montgomery Aztecs
After flying high against the San Ysidro Cougars last Wednesday, the Otay Ranch Mustangs came back down to earth. Otay Ranch fell 66-55 to Montgomery on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Otay Ranch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maleah Porch, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Porch scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaira Moore, who scored 18 points.
Otay Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Otay Ranch will head out on the road to take on Chula Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary's Academy at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. St. Mary's Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Montgomery in California (St. Mary's Academy is ranked 98th, while Montgomery is ranked 413th).
