Basketball Recap: Fremont Gets the Win

After losing to Lakeview Charter the last time they met, Fremont decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fremont Pathfinders walked away with a 31-22 victory over the Lakeview Charter Lions on Saturday.

Fremont found their leader in sophomore Isis Gates, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Janaea Carpenter, who had eight points.

Lakeview Charter lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Heyli Edwards, who scored four points along with six boards and five steals. Edwards has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Word, who put up ten points.

Fremont's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Lakeview Charter, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8.

Fremont will host Dorsey on Wednesday. Fremont is facing Dorsey at the right time seeing as Dorsey is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lakeview Charter, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lakeview Charter Lions duke it out with the Robert F. Kennedy Community Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Robert F. Kennedy Community's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so Lakeview Charter's offense will have their work cut out for them.
