Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Falcons vs. Del Campo Cougars

The River Valley Falcons will challenge the Del Campo Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Del Campo better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when River Valley really get things going. Everything went River Valley's way against Yuba City on Monday as River Valley made off with a 48-26 victory.

River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gurleen Nijjar, who posted 23 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nijjar a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Avneeth Gill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

River Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuba City only posted two assists.

Del Campo got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They slipped by Yuba City 35-34 on Wednesday.

Del Campo's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for River Valley, they have also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Things could have been worse for River Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-41 loss to Del Campo in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
