Football Game Preview: Foothill Cougars vs. Chico Panthers + How To Watch

The Foothill Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Chico Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill has given up an average of 28.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Foothill is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pleasant Valley just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 38-28 to the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Vikings are ranked 109th).

Foothill might have lost, but man, Turner Knowles was a machine: he rushed for 103 yards and three scores. The Cougars also got help from Carson Anderson, who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Chico made sure to put some points up on the board against Shasta on Friday. The Panthers breezed past the Wolves to the tune of 40-10. Considering the Panthers have won five games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Chico's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games. As for Foothill, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Foothill strolled past Chico in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
