Basketball Game Preview: Austin Panthers vs. Oswayo Valley Green Wave

The Austin Panthers will take on the Oswayo Valley Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Austin is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Otto-Eldred on Tuesday. They came up short against the Terrors, falling 43-21. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Terrors are ranked 170th).

Meanwhile, Oswayo Valley fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Port Allegany on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 35-27 to the Gators. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oswayo Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Austin, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

Austin took their win against Oswayo Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 39-14. Does Austin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oswayo Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
