Baseball Recap: Rockford East Comes Up Short

Rockford East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 19-4 to the Rockford Auburn Knights. That's two games in a row now that the E-Rabs have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Rockford Auburn's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Rockford Auburn's part, Nolan Velez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Velez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jamar Reedy was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Rockford East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
