Basketball Recap: Birmingham's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Birmingham had won two straight games and Kayla Tanijiri did her part to make it three on Friday. The Birmingham Patriots rang in the new year with a 67-59 win over the Chaminade Eagles thanks in part to Tanijiri, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 23 points and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kamora Coleman, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Birmingham's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Chaminade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Birmingham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-56 loss against Westlake on the 4th. As for Chaminade, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-53 win against Valencia on the 4th.
