Soccer Game Preview: Port of Los Angeles vs. Locke

The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will face off against the Locke Saints at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Port of Los Angeles' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Things were looking good for Port of Los Angeles after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Harbor Teacher by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Polar Bears have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Locke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against King/Drew, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1088th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 411th).

Locke's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Port of Los Angeles, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.

Port of Los Angeles beat Locke by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 1-0. Will Port of Los Angeles repeat their success, or does Locke have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
