Basketball Recap: Lowndes Skates Past Brooks County with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Lowndes over Brooks County in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Trojans out of the water with a 77-26 final score. That looming 77-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Lowndes had a senior duo take command as Colt Fleming posted 14 points and Kaiden Brown made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points. Brown has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Braxton Draper was another key player, putting up ten points.

Despite the defeat, Brooks County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jeremiah Paige had ten points. Thanks to that strong game, Paige now owns an excellent 45.8% field goal percentage.

Lowndes now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Brooks County, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Lowndes won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bradwell Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Brooks County, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
