Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pius X

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Papillion-LaVista). They blew past the Pius X Thunderbolts 16-2 on Friday. Considering the Monarchs have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Huffman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Huffman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alexa Harms was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Trofholz, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Papillion-LaVista hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Papillion-LaVista pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pius X, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Papillion-LaVista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 win against Lincoln Southeast on the 29th. As for Pius X, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-2 loss against Papillion-LaVista South on the 29th.
