Basketball Preview: Midd-West Mustangs vs. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack
The Midd-West Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Midd-West has struggled recently with 16 defeats in a row, while the WolfPack will arrive with 20 straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-19, which was the final score in Midd-West's tilt against the Bluejays on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Midd-West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Bluejays are ranked 72nd).
Upper Dauphin Area typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 60-52.
Midd-West dropped their record down to 1-18 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, their win bumped their record up to 20-0.
Midd-West took a serious blow against the WolfPack in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 56-14. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Midd-West was down 44-5.
