Basketball Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Kearny Komets

The Coronado Islanders will challenge the Kearny Komets at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Coronado is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lincoln just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the Hornets, falling 79-16. The game marked the Islanders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Coronado saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gabby Fichter posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Kearny waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They secured a 50-45 W over the Buccaneers.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coronado fell to 8-1. As for Kearny, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
