Basketball Recap: Barstow Comes Up Short

Barstow lost to Victor Valley on January 6th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Aztecs took a hard 45-30 fall against the Jackrabbits.

When it comes to explaining why Barstow lost, don't look at Emily Franco. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points. Franco's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miyanna Ruffin, who scored five points and six boards.

Victor Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eris Roberts out in front who had ten points and four steals. Eden Roberts was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Barstow's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Victor Valley, their record is now 6-13.

Looking ahead, Barstow will head out to challenge Silver Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Aztecs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Victor Valley, they will square off against Granite Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
