Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 62-24 win over San Pasqual at home. Mt. Carmel pushed the score to 46-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Mt. Carmel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Meredith Wong out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wong has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Weede, who scored 11 points along with eight steals.

Mt. Carmel's win bumped their record up to 7-17. As for San Pasqual, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Mt. Carmel will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ramona comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. San Pasqual's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
