Baseball Recap: Wallington Comes Up Short

Wallington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hawthorne Christian Defenders. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Defenders earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Eddie Tanderis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Wallington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marlon Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Wallington's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13-1. As for Hawthorne Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8-1.

Coming up, Wallington will challenge Saddle Brook at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hawthorne Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against College Achieve Paterson at 4:00 p.m.
