Baseball Recap: San Ysidro's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was fun while it lasted, but San Ysidro's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Escondido. The game marked the first time this year in which San Ysidro was not able to get on the board.

Carlos Gomez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, San Ysidro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armann Robles, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Robles hit this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, San Ysidro fell to 5-1. As for Escondido, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

San Ysidro has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Carlsbad on the 12th. As for Escondido, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Fallbrook on the 17th.
