Basketball Recap: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. Heritage Christian Eagles
Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Heritage Christian Eagles 60-27. While losing is never fun, the Golddiggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Eagles are ranked 102nd).
Clear Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Miller, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.
Levi Hermsen was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 14 en route to 19 points in addition to six assists and six steals for Heritage Christian. Hermsen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Lundy, who posted 11 points and eight steals.
Clear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Heritage Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Clear Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-48 defeat against Dawson School on the 31st. Heritage Christian has also already played their next matchup, a 78-49 win against Union Colony Prep on the 28th.
