Softball Recap: Lake Oconee Academy Triumphs

Lake Oconee Academy posted their closest win since October 8, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars, sneaking past 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Kaitlyn Mamay was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Moore was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Lake Oconee Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lake Oconee Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Lake Oconee Academy will challenge Lincoln County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, they will welcome Bulloch Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
