Basketball Game Preview: California Military Institute Rough Riders vs. Santa Rosa Academy Rangers

The California Military Institute Rough Riders will venture away from home to take on the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Wednesday, California Military Institute lost to Temecula Prep at home by a 45-26 margin. While losing is never fun, the Rough Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1154th, while the Patriots are ranked 537th).

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Temecula Prep and fell 50-8.

Santa Rosa Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for California Military Institute, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

California Military Institute took their victory against Santa Rosa Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 27-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for California Military Institute since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
