St. Michael is a perfect 4-0 against Pojoaque Valley since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Horsemen will host the Elks/Elkettes at 1:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
St. Michael's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Las Vegas 42-0. Fans of the Horsemen have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
St. Michael's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Dominguez, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD. Kamal Stith was another key passer, throwing for 114 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Michael's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Ryan Hunt and Don Gorman, who racked up all four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pojoaque Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-0 win over Santa Fe Indian. The Elks/Elkettes haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
A big part of Pojoaque Valley's win came down to the chemistry between Jaden Leyba-Moya and his top target Jonah Villegas. Leyba-Moya gained 143 total yards and three touchdowns while Villegas rushed for 107 yards and three scores. The dominant performance also gave Leyba-Moya a new career-high in receiving yards (99).
Pojoaque Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Michael's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Pojoaque Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. St. Michael's has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pojoaque Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 200.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
