Basketball Game Preview: Cowanesque Valley Indians vs. Sayre Redskins

Cowanesque Valley and Sayre are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Cowanesque Valley Indians will head out to square off against the Sayre Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cowanesque Valley will be strutting in after a win while Sayre will be coming in after a defeat.

Back in December of 2024, Cowanesque Valley slipped by Mansfield 57-56.

Meanwhile, Sayre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-21 defeat at the hands of Wyalusing Valley. The Redskins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-9.

Cowanesque Valley will have to keep a close watch on Rylee Lantz and Reghan McGaughey, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sayre's prior game. Lantz posted four points along with eight boards and five steals, while McGaughey earned no points. The dominant performance gave Lantz a new career-high in steals.

Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cowanesque Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Cowanesque Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Sayre in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 48-45. Will Cowanesque Valley repeat their success, or does Sayre have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
