Basketball Game Preview: Miami Vandals vs. San Carlos Braves

Miami is 2-8 against San Carlos since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Miami Vandals will challenge the San Carlos Braves at 5:30 p.m. Miami is coming into the game hot, having won their last 19 games.

On Friday, Miami was fully in charge, breezing past San Tan Charter 67-7. The Vandals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Miami's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamia Pietila, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Pietila has scored at least a third of Miami's points. Aeriana Brown was another key player, going 7 for 13 en route to 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Pima typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday San Carlos proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over the Roughriders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

San Carlos has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Miami, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-1.

Miami came up short against San Carlos in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 69-60. Can Miami avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
