Recap: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. Mira Mesa Marauders
The Sage Creek Bobcats's game on Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged Mira Mesa out 46-44. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, as Sage Creek did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sage Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gia Kiesling, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds and 9 steals. Claire Novak was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Mira Mesa's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Savannah Hall, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Hall is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Otero, who scored 13 points.
Sage Creek's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mira Mesa, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Sage Creek will play host again and welcome El Camino, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Mira Mesa, they will head out on the road to face off against Otay Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Otay Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
