Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Joshua Gonzales and Elijah Gonzales Leads Pojoaque Valley over West Las Vegas

Pojoaque Valley's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 19-16 victory over the West Las Vegas Dons. For the Elks/Elkettes, this counts as revenge for the 41-12 win the Dons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Pojoaque Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joshua Gonzales and Elijah Gonzales. Elijah also made five total tackles, which is notable because Pojoaque Valley is 4-2 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.

Although West Las Vegas took the loss, they still got scores from Andres Sena and Fiddel Herrera.

Pojoaque Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for West Las Vegas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Pojoaque Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Las Vegas, they will take on Ruidoso at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th.
