Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Piedmont Academy

Piedmont Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 last Wednesday.

Piedmont Academy got a great performance from Nick Gervasio as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The Cougars are undefeated when Gervasio allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jack Adams was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Zach Simmons was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Piedmont Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount de Sales Academy only posted a batting average of .200.

Piedmont Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Piedmont Academy will face off against Stratford Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they will host First Presbyterian Day at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight.
