Baseball Recap: Miller County Starts off Right with Win over Blountstown

Miller County had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Blountstown Tigers as the Miller County Pirates made off with a 15-3 victory. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 7-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Dru Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Andrew Keown was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Miller County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blountstown struck out 12 times.

Blountstown's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Miller County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Blountstown: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
