Preview: Santiago Cavaliers vs. Los Amigos Lobos
Santiago is 10-0 against Los Amigos since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Santiago Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Los Amigos Lobos at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Santiago is ranked 856th, while Los Amigos is ranked 868th).
Santiago fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Loara on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saxons.
Meanwhile, Los Amigos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Bolsa Grande, posting a 60-11 win at home. That 49 points margin sets a new team best for Los Amigos this season.
Los Amigos got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophia Boyer out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Boyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mandy Le, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Los Amigos, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Santiago took their win against Los Amigos in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 64-40. Will Santiago repeat their success, or does Los Amigos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
