Softball Recap: Grand Junction Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Grand Junction came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Heritage Eagles by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kloe Donahue was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Avery Long and Jaxon Clark did most of the damage at the plate: Long went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Clark went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits Clark has posted since back in August.

Grand Junction hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Grand Junction's record is now 13-4. As for Heritage, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Coming up, Grand Junction will take on Castle View in a tournament on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabercats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Heritage, they will square off against Fruita Monument at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
