Basketball Recap: Big Valley Christian Takes a Loss

Big Valley Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 71-2 loss at the hands of the Calaveras Red Hawks. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.

Kailey Rivera was Big Valley Christian's leading scorer, having posted two points.

Makenna Neelans went supernova for Calaveras, going 7 of 12 en route to 16 points and four steals. Neelans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Maddock, who posted nine points and five steals.

Big Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Calaveras, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Big Valley Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-11 loss against Riverbank on the 24th. Calaveras has also already played their next contest, a 49-38 defeat against Bret Harte on the 24th.
